David
Selley - FCA Associate
David Selley is an independent consultant in corporate ethics and a senior associate with InterPraxis. He has
been significantly involved in the movement to promote business and
organizational ethics for almost 25 years.
Educated at Oxford University, David worked for the public accounting firm of Ernst & Young for over 35
years, becoming a partner in 1974. For 19 years, he headed Ernst & Young’s
national technical auditing office in Toronto. In this role David was
responsible for quality control in the audit practice nation-wide and for the
development of: audit methodologies, approaches, guidance and standards.
David has worked in significant roles in the Chartered Accounting profession, serving as the
Auditing Standards Director for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants
(CICA) for two years and a member of the Auditing Standards Committee for three
years. In addition to serving on various professional committees and international and national task forces, he
has also published numerous articles in professional magazines and recently has
authored a significant research report for CICA. In 2001, he was part of the
audit team for Metro Credit Union’s 2001 Social Responsibility Report.
A well-respected member of the business ethics community, David was a founding director of the Canadian Centre
for Ethics and Corporate Policy, where he served as its Chair for four years,
and is currently a Director and Treasurer of Transparency International
(Canada), a voluntary non-profit organization dedicated to combating corruption,
affiliated with more than 70 national chapters around the world.
