Dara
Edmonds - B.A., LL.B Associate
Dara Edmonds is a Vancouver-based lawyer, sustainability
consultant and an associate with InterPraxis.
Dara’s interest in sustainability and corporate social responsibility issues arose
through work in Europe with the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable
Development. Since returning to Canada in 2000, she has gained extensive
knowledge of CSR through work with BC Hydro, Canadian Business for Social
Responsibility, and Real Assets Investment Management Inc.
Dara has extensive experience working with social and environmental measurements,
targets and benchmarks. She was a member of Cities PLUS, Canada’s winning entry to the City of
Tomorrow international competition, for which she developed social benchmarks,
targets and indicators for a sustainable city. Dara is currently working for Transport Canada on a “Green Ships”
initiative, conducting stakeholder consultations to assist with developing a
certification program to promote environmentally friendly shipping in Canada.
Dara served as the Director of Corporate Research for Real Assets Investment
management Inc. and was a member of the audit team that performed the 2001
Ethical Policy compliance audit for Citizens Bank of Canada.
Dara has had a long-standing volunteer commitment to social responsibility. For several years
she was volunteer for Canadian Business for Social Responsibility (CBSR) and is a member of
Connecting Environmental Professionals.
Dara holds an honours BA in geography and history from Mount Allison University and
an LL.B. from the University of Saskatchewan. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1998.
